Sprayed Concrete
The application of concrete by spray is carried out in two manners either by wet process or dry process. The difference is where the water is added to the mix of cement and aggregate. In the dry process the water is added at the nozzle as the dry aggregates are shot out by compressed air. In the wet process water is added to dry constituents before it is then forced through the hose to the nozzle.
Sprayed concrete is used for several reasons on repair projects. These include placement of larger quantities of repair material that can not justifiably be applied by hand, to allow larger placement in overhead locations, to form profiles and structures for which conventional shuttering is not justifiable and where thin overlays are required to existing forms.
The high velocity placement and low water cement ratios which can be attained provide a high density, fully compacted and durable placement, repair or overlay
